This workshop will introduce participants to the colorful world of natural dye plants, many of which are dual-purpose edibles and have herbal/medicinal properties. You'll learn the water-wise technique of bundle dyeing with natural dye expert and educator Liz Spencer of Dogwood Dyer.

You'll also learn techniques and actions that set her practice apart from other natural colorists, focusing on sustainability, working with local plants & food waste and environmental resiliency. Natural dye basics such as textile preparation (scouring & mordanting), efficient extraction, and historical context will also be covered. You'll be amazed at the colors attainable with natural substances! These techniques are well suited for covering stains on well-loved garments- extending their usable life. No previous dyeing experience necessary.

Each participant will leave with
• Bundle dyed compositions on a variety of natural fabrics
• Resources lists and instructional guide on how to repeat the process at home.
• An array of naturally dyed, ample sized fabrics for scarves, tea towels, bandanas, furoshiki, etc.

* Please bring an apron and wear comfortable clothing you don't mind getting dye on.

* If the workshop is sold out, make sure to subscribe in the box above and once the workshop comes back online you'll be the first to hear about it.
