The Line Hotel 3515 Wilshire Blvd.

In this beginner-friendly class taught by two jewelry designers, Jenice Anderson and Emily Burton, you’ll learn to use a saltwater process to etch your own design onto the metal. Learn basic silversmithing techniques to cut your etched brass into a custom shape and embellish into a pair of earrings or necklace. Designs can be hand-drawn, rubber-stamped or cut from contact paper – whatever sparks your creative vision! All levels.

Please note:
If you have long hair please bring something to tie it back with and if you use reading or magnifying glasses please bring those as well.

Emily J. Burton is a designer, metalsmith, rock musician and lifelong aficionado of all things handcrafted. Her jewelry and curios company, Dutch Hollow General, is a one-woman business based in her metals studio in downtown Los Angeles. Intrigued by multidisciplinary craft processes, Emily combines found objects, organic materials, 3D printing, and traditional wax sculpting into her lost-wax cast creations. Emily has a BS in Fashion Design from the University of Cincinnati and learned silversmithing at Penland School of Craft and the Calstone Jewelry Arts & Design College.

Jenice Anderson of California Native Jewelry is a San Francisco Bay Area-based metalsmith. Her jewelry is created with a priority on handmade components which she combines with fibers naturally dyed with California products like avocado and eucalyptus. Being largely self-taught she finds exploring a variety of crafts have helped her to define her style and business vision. She has taught hundreds of students over the years.
