June 8: Design for Manufacturing

Saturday, June 8, 2019, 2-5 PM
The Line Hotel 3515 Wilshire Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90010

These days anyone can be an entrepreneur. With just a few clicks on a web page, you can file a company, start a website, and sell products to people all over the world. However, how do you make these products at mass production scale and get people to buy them? How do you design products that make it accessible to the masses efficiently with the highest quality at the most affordable price?

Many have tried to bring products to market, but lack of resources, capital, labor, and many other factors prohibit great ideas to come to fruition. Why? Because these products were not designed for manufacturing.

Join George Ko and Ted Ko, brothers and Co-Founders of Coral, a new human-centric robotics company based in LA, as they walk you through all the steps of designing products for manufacturing. This workshop will give you insight and a view of the real-life experience of what it’s like to take a bucket of plastic pellets and turn them into a hi-tech consumer hardware product. Topics covered include ideation, prototyping, testing, execution, mass scale production, and bringing to market.

What you will learn and get:
• A crash course on the Human-Centered Design process
• 360° Understanding of Supply Chain
• Logistics for a Direct-to-consumer Company
• A thorough guide to managing manufacturing and supply B2B and internally
• Managing legal issues with manufacturing and importing products as an American based company
• A detailed case study of the Coral One, a step-by-step view of how hi-tech products are made and shipped.
• Free Coral swag.
• Special Discount Code for all Coral Products

After receiving Cum Laude from Harvard, Ted joined Yieldmo as a Creative Coder, collaborating with the design and engineering teams. At Coral, Ted is working to disrupt the robotics industry by developing an ecosystem of household robots to help people’s daily lives. Ted has overseen the development of the Coral One, Coral’s first robot, from start to finish, driving the idea through the brainstorm, prototype and production phases.
