Taupe Swirl Donabe

Donabe is a Japanese earthenware pot that can be used to cook rice, hotpots, casseroles, soups, and so much more. Traditionally, a donabe is used to cook over an open flame, and often for special occasions. Use our taupe and white swirled version in your own creative way and for any occasion.

More about Donabe:
Originating in Japanese prehistoric times, the earthenware pots are made out of clay with properties ideal for operating at high temperatures, including in kilns and during high-heat cooking. The thick clay walls retain heat, so that food will remain warm for a long time and also continue cooking in the residual heat. The best-tasting rice is cooked in a donabe, since each grain stays firm yet still just sticky enough, cooked through evenly. Donabes are also ideal for the slow, gentle cooking of stews, soups, and simmered, steamed, and even smoked dishes.
