Had the wonderful opportunity to experience a Wolvesmouth dinner this past weekend. We had first read a great New Yorker feature last year, it sang praises for Chef Craig Thornton and his underground dinners hosted at variety of intimate lofts, homes, and alternative venues in Los Angeles. Wolvesmouth just recently completed a residency at Santa Monica Museum of Art where they hosted dinners and an art installation.
For his regular, weekly dinners the venue is released the day of, guests are chosen at random and can take months to even years to get in. A good friend of mine had the good fortune of getting a seat and invited us along. The dinner was casual (we were invited to walk into the kitchen, look at the art on the walls between courses, and encouraged to make new friends), the chef came to each guest and explained each plate personally, his crew was amazingly gracious and nice, and the food… it was amazing. Here we go, 9 courses… now, get on the Wolvesmouth mailing list… and know that they change their menu weekly depending on what is in season.
