This Saturday Dec 14th Holiday Family Photos at Poketo with Meiko Takechi Arquillos and Adi Goodrich

Meiko Takechi Arquillos

Are you ready for the Holiday Family Photo event this coming Saturday, December 14th? We are teaming up with set designer Adi Goodrich and photographer Meiko Takechi Arquillos to transform Poketo into a “different” Holiday Photo experience. Last week, I posted a quick Q&A with set designer Adi Goodrich. Today, we chat with photographer Meiko Takechi Arquillos. Meiko is lifestyle photographer whose work has been seen in Anthology Magazine, McSweeneys, Chronicle Books and lots more. I particularly love her portraiture series… the people she photographs, their vibe just comes through in a way that only a seasoned photographer can capture.

Mark your calendar and come to Poketo for this fun Holiday Photo event, get ready to immerse yourself in Adi’s set and get your portrait taken by Meiko. Feel free to bring friends, family, pets, props… It’s going to be FUN! Now, let talk with Meiko and catch a glimpse of what you are in for.

How would you describe your photography style? What do you love to take pics of?

I love to take pictures of everything. There is a story to be told in everyone and everything.
I am attracted to graphic compositions. My work tend to be colorful and playful. I often think of my work as illustration rather than photography.

Tell us a about your portraits series on your website.

The portraiture series is called Strangers (for lack of a better title as of now). I have been taking pictures of people at their home for years. Most people I photograph are people I don’t know (usually friends of a friend). Every person I meet is like a short story. I get to photograph a glimpse of each person’s life. One of my favorite things about photography is connection.

What are the proudest moment in the work you do?

When my pictures make people smile.

How do you know Adi?

I know Adi through my photography rep, Redeye. I asked Adi to make a house portraiture of my home. She is a person of many talents. I am so excited to be collaborating with her on this project AND with Poketo!

What are three words that describe what people should expect for event on the 14th?

FUN, LAUGHTER and HUGS!
