Poketo People: Erin Loechner

At Poketo, it’s the people around us that help keep it real. Inspired by their great vibe, this new series puts the spotlight squarely on them, their aspirations and their brushes with the Poketo world. It’s also a great way to keep in touch, don’t you think? Yeah, we thought so too!

This week, we welcome to the Poketo spotlight, a wonderful woman with a great energy about her. Don’t believe us? Read through her work at Design for Mankind, which she keeps up while renovating her Scandanavian style house in the Midwest. She also blogging about her household renovation on HGTV, and even gives some inspirational talks on how to live a more creative life.

We love this woman’s fashion sense, but most importantly, her point of view, which shines through in her upbeat, unsinkable-Molly-Brown style of writing. Read on to see what we mean.

Who is Erin Loechner in a nutshell?
I like to think of myself as a born encourager. I love to see people doing things they love and live the bulk of my life wishing I can play a small part in seeing them succeed.

Where do you call home?
The Midwest! I was born in southern Indiana, and although I lived in Los Angeles for a brief six years, I love the open space and beautiful seasons of the Midwest.

What wakes you up in the morning?
The promise of a bold cup of coffee!

What keeps you up at night?
Blogging new finds and answering reader’s emails. Gracious, its a blessed curse.

Greatest compliment?
I was once called the Disney Princess of the Internet, and although princesses sort of irk me, I like that I’m seen as a wholesome good girl. There’s not a rebellious bone in my body (although I’ve tried to find it many times!).

Biggest challenge?
Tackling a renovation with my husband and sharing each joy and pitfall on HGTV.com. It’s been quite a challenge to maintain a positive outlook when you’re living among drywall dust for two years!

Pivotal life lesson learned?
Ask for what you want. Always, always ask. Never leave opportunity to fate and always go after exactly what you want.

Best day this year?
Today. I’ll always answer today!

What’s your idea of fun?
Going to a hideaway tavern in a small town, ordering burgers and cheese fries and chatting the night away with a small, tightknit group of friends.

How did you discover Poketo?
Oh, dear. I have no idea. It was probably 2007 when I first founded Design for Mankind. I remember watching Poketo for new artists and trends, admiring them every step of the way! Before I moved from Los Angeles, I had the chance to work with them on a few occasions, and gracious, they are every bit as charming in person as they are online. I’m a huge fan.

What’s to like about Poketo?
They have a unique way of creating mass market appeal for independent artists. I was amazed at how successful their Target collaboration appeared, as I think we all too often assume that indie artists aren’t quite “mainstream” enough to hold their own. Poketo breaks those boundaries in a creative and well-executed fashion.

What’s on your Poketo wishlist?
Oh, wish lists! I always find so many goodies at Poketo:

I’m glad I don’t have this Poketo linen button scarf, because I’d wear it daily and it would smell

The second I conceive, I want these balancing blocks. Mark it:

This necklace would be perfect with a white tee and cut-offs:

I’ll forever obsess over these backpacks. So handy and stylish!:

These tomorrow planners are perfectly geometric:

Fill in the blank. Poketo is____________?
….going places

People who love Poketo are __________?
smart!

What’s your favorite Poketo find?
Probably this tee. I wear it an abnormal amount of times during the week.

I shop their men’s tees constantly for my husband — the fit is perfect and he’s got a quirky sense of style. We love them all!

Know someone we should talk to for our next installment? Send us a quick note. We’ll be glad to hear from you.
