Many of us are guilty of being attached to our phones, iPads, computers, [insert gadget here]. Handwriting is fast becoming a thing of the past, and this workshop aims to change all that.
In “21st Century Calligraphy”, students will learn the basics of calligraphy and immerse themselves in a session of beautiful type and lettering to find their own personal style. By the end of the workshop, you will learn how to pen your own heartfelt notes with a wooden pen and pointed nib dipped into ink, something other than just your two thumbs!
Each person will also go home with a personalized calligraphy starter kit which includes a black ink, pen holder, nib, practice book and sheets, with lots of inspiration to continue on your own.
Heading the workshop is Maybelle Imasa-Stukuls, a calligrapher and artist known for her distinctly modern, elegant and refined approach to calligraphy. Maybelle seeks inspiration in botanical engravings, vintage alphabet specimens and her travels abroad for her work. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, she developed the “Modern Calligraphy in the 21st Century” workshop. This is fully booked months in advance, so we are excited that she will be specially traveling here to teach a workshop at Poketo! She has also taught the class in New York City, Santa Barbara and Sydney, Australia.
We’ve already gotten interest for this workshop even before it was posted online, and seats are filling up quickly. Visit the workshop page here to view all information and register.
