Well, that flew by.
2014 took us on road trips, saw us opening up our second location at The Line Hotel, had us hosting numerous parties and art shows at our Flagship, and winded down with a desert retreat. Read on for just a few of this year’s many highlights.
Our favorite LA-based ceramicist, Ben Medansky, showed a collection of new ceramic works at the Poketo Flagship during the month of March…
followed by Alley-Oop II in April, a collaborative exhibition of sculptural works by designers Will Bryant and Eric Trine.
Our second location opens! The Poketo Outpost at The Line Hotel is just like our Flagship location, but tiny, and curated especially with the traveler in mind.
Ted, Poketo’s co-founder, teams with Stones Throw Records and A Hundred Years to host a screening and dance party in support of AIDS LifeCycle. Peanut Butter Wolf & friends took to the decks while the rest of us took to the dance floor, raising thousands of dollars towards AIDS awareness.
Poketo “pops-in” to 8 Nordstroms nationwide, thanks to Olivia Kim, the Director of Creative Projects at Nordstrom.
Over the 4th of July weekend, the Poketo team takes a road trip to San Francisco to visit the SF Nordstrom Pop-In and to decompress at the De Young.
In the height of August’s heat, we joined our friends at Stones Throw Records to co-host a listening party for the release of LA-based producer Mndsgn’s new album, Yawn Zen. Mndsgn, Knxwledge, Annhu, House Shoes and friends spun poolside at The Line Hotel while guests splashed around and grooved to the tunes.
In early October, Poketo teamed up with renowned letterist and graphic designer Erik Marinovich to present Always Play Amongst Friends, a collaborative exhibition of prints by Brooklyn and San Francisco-based graphic design collective Friends of Type.
In celebration of the first ever Hello Kitty Con at the MOCA Geffen, we collaborated with Sanrio to launch a limited-edition Hello Kitty x Poketo collection.
The Poketo family heads to the desert in Joshua Tree for a few days of reflection and relaxation. In-between morning yoga, sunset hikes, and a visit to Integratron, we spend time collectively dreaming of Poketo’s future.
