After a million recommendations from friends we know are foodies, we finally made it to the famous La Super Rica. We took a drive up the coast to Santa Barbara, only about an hour and half from Los Angeles. Seems like a long way to go for Mexican, but, totally worth it. We haven’t found food like this in LA… not like THIS! If anyone knows of an LA equivalent, let me know.
Tamalito de cambray–chicken, raisins, almond, and tomato sauce wrapped in a banana leaf.
Chile pasilla stuffed with cheese.
Tamal Norteno de puerco–pork, veges, herbs, witha creamy tomato sauce.
The line was long from the get go. But, it moved quickly. By the time we left, it grew.
They make their own tortillas, right there!
Being Angie’s birthday weekend, I thought it would be nice to get out of the city and do something new. Lunch was delicious and a chill out at El Capitan Beach afterwards was perfect.
Read, napped, played in the water… only to build an appetite for round 2 at La Super Rica. Yes, lunch at noon and back for dinner at 6pm. We had to get our fix, who knows when we’ll be back. Knowing what I know now, probably sooner than later.
