The old zoo in Los Angeles

img_1115.JPG

You never cease to find new things in Los Angeles. Griffith Park is a stones throw from us, but, we rarely go and explore the vast greenery of LA. The park is so large–there is an observatory, a golf course, merry go round, horse stable, and what seems like endless lengths of green, dirt trails and palms.

Our friend’s birthday got us out to the former site of the LA zoo. The new zoo is still actually on the grounds, but, instead of destroying the old zoo area, the city actually transformed the old cage areas originally intended for monkeys, bears, and lions in to little picnic spots for the animal that stands upright. A gem of a spot for a Saturday afternoon.
