Imagine being on death row for a crime you’ve never committed. The justice system has in the past, wrongfully accused individuals of being murderers, rapists, and kidnappers, and has stripped many innocent men of their quality of life and dignity. The Innocence Project started by the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University and created by Barry C. Scheck and Peter J. Neufeld in 1992, has since exonerated roughly 250 innocent citizens, wrongfully accused of crimes worthy of multiple lifetimes in prison, and lethal injections. All exonerations are on the basis of new DNA science. Here’s a vid. of Chris Ochoa’s interview, exonerated after 12 years of imprisonment for a crime he had never commit.
This is a truly inspirational organization–where falsely accused citizens and victims who have wrongfully accused their perpetrators join forces into a national litigation, preventing future injustice.
