Poketo and A Hundred Years in collaboration with Stones Throw Records are proud to present a private screening of Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton followed by a dance party with Peanut Butter Wolf to benefit AIDS/LifeCycle.
Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton is a feature-length documentary about avant-garde Los Angeles-based record label Stones Throw Records, featuring exclusive interviews with Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Common, Questlove, Talib Kweli, Mike D (The Beastie Boys), Tyler the Creator, and many more. Under the direction of founder and world-renowned DJ Peanut Butter Wolf, Stones Throw has put out over 200 critically acclaimed releases and has launched the careers of world renowned artists such as Aloe Blacc, Mayer Hawthorne, Madlib, J Dilla, J Rocc and many more. The film weaves together rare concert footage, never-before-seen archival material, inner-circle home video and photographs and in-depth interviews with the artists who put Stones Throw Records on the map. Following the screening, Peanut Butter Wolf will DJ an onsite dance party with sights and sounds from Stones Throw Records and beyond.
The proprietors of A Hundred Years and Poketo are taking to the road with AIDS/LifeCycle. Ted Vadakan (Poketo) & Marc Mertens (A Hundred Years) join over 2,000 riders on a 545 mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise awareness in the fight against AIDS.
Tickets can be purchased at www.poketo.com/workshops. 100% of funds raised go directly to the cause.
