I’ll trade you this for that… LA Food Swap

We hosted our first LA Food Swap this past weekend. Our good friend, Emily Ho, is the founder and organizer of the LA Food Swap and the national Food Swap Network. Emily started the food swap in 2011 to share and build community through food. One rule to participate in a swap is that you bring something you made, grew, or foraged yourself. Angie and I brought some of our peaches from our backyard… but, at the last minute, bowed out once we saw the high level of goods that other food swappers were trading — everything from organic honey, homemade kombucha, smoked bacon, fresh eggs (from their own hen!), homemade granola, and an abundance of organic fruits and veggies — even though our peaches are delicious, we’ll know next time that we’ll have to step up our food swap game.

She’ll be teaching the the Soda Workshop here at the Poketo Store in LA, you’ll learn how to make refreshing summer drinks from fruits and herbs, a yeast-fermented ginger ale plus a syrup and shrub (drinking vinegar) to mix with sparkling water and cocktails.
