So I’ve been keeping myself busy over the past few days redesigning my website and now it’s finally up! To celebrate, I launched my very own online shop that will be super exclusive with limited prints (and a possibility of more goodies in the future). Walbert the Walrus is the first official print in the series! I still need to add in a few more illustrations, characters, and a future prototype section… but for the most part, everything is up and running. Check back often for updates and feel free to visit anytime!
Love it! and it totally matches my icon too! This awesome plush is designed by Michelle Valigura, the genius behind pistol pedro. Michelle & her friend Amanda Visell opened up a workshop called Switcheroo, where they create wonderful products for their own work and artists that they admire. On Dec 6th from 7-10 pm, they will be opening up their workshop for a release party of Brass Knuckle Bob Plush. It should be a fun night so here is the address if you would like to attend the event.

So stoked to have met James Jean earlier this evening! I was so excited that I had to post it on my blog as soon as I got home. Super nice guy and truly gifted and talented. While in line, I got a peek at his sketchbook and it’s amazing how much amount of detail and effort he devotes his ideas and works into his sketches. There is a group exhibit entitled Line Weight going on right now at Nucleus, which also features the works of James Jean. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend you stop by the gallery for a visit!

Bought this CD yesterday and I can’t stop listening to it. Department of Eagles features Dan Rossen, Chris Taylor, and Chris Bear of highly acclaimed indie-folk band, Grizzly Bear. There’s something deeply satisfying about Dan’s voice that I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of. When I saw him perform solo and with Grizzly Bear at the Walt Disney Concert Hall earlier this year, it was an incredible and enjoyable experience. If you’re a fan of Grizzly Bear as much as I am, there’s no doubt that you’ll be hooked on Department of Eagles.

Too good to be true! Jean Claude Van Damme starring himself as JCVD. God Damme. I grew up watching Van Damme flicks, even the cheesy ones like Double Team (with Dennis Rodman) and Street Fighter (YES!!). This is actually a movie based on his life as a struggling actor so if you’re expecting it to be a full on action flick, It’s the total opposite. The final two screenings are at 7:30 and 10:00PM! Should be interesting. Make it if you can!
Here’s something to look forward to tonight. The Dodos, a collaborative duo between San Francisco-based Meric Long and Logan Kroeber, will be performing live tonight at the Echoplex. I’ve been hooked on them for quite awhile now and their folksy tune has been buzzing all around the world. If you missed them last time when they performed at Amoeba in Hollywood, now’s your chance to see them!
