You ever listen to the episode of This American Life where Ira asks people what superpowers they wish they could have and why?? There are some great stories of flying to get baby diapers and other mundane tasks in super ways. Now, you know mine.

G’Day Mates!

We are hitting the shores of the Great Southern Land to launch the Poketo Australian Series.
This is going to be one cracking series with the biggest gathering of artists to date.
15 artists to be exact, I kid you not. We are keen as mustard to show you all the talent they have down there. They are so choc a block with talent down there that we went a little troppo.

We’ll be going on a walkabout around Melbourne & Sydney to discover what makes up this sunburnt country; wallabies, echidnas, goannas and perhaps a little barbie action, roolaki anyone?

So ‘ave a gander and a yack at the launch party. There are sure to be plenty of larrikins and empties by the end of the night! Hopefully we’ll be able to keep up and won’t end up hitting the sack too early!

It was John Pham’s birthday, we got the text….”Karaoke tonight, my birthday, Max’s on Sawtelle”. We were at Father’s Office, the burgers pretty darn good. We had a long day of cleaning house, a good night out was in order. We got there at 9pm, before anyone else. Scoped out the selection, everything from show tunes to Vampire Weekend. Yes, even Vampire Weekend. This is a good shot from the night…. Learn from the queen, Raina Lee. She wrote, “Hit Me With Your Best Shot, The Ultimate Guide to Karaoke Domination”. Look at her, you want to be a master, I know you do.

Hi Matias, I’m so glad we got to meet over the summer and hang out with you . You were on a world tour and really inspired me by all of the travel and work that you do, always going back and forth between your homes in Buenos Aires and Miami. Who or what inspired you to do what you do?

I’ve always lived my life among comics, animated series, illustration books and design objects. However my inspiration is a combination of many things. I’m addicted to all kinds of news and information, social, visual, political and economical to name a few. In spite of this, when I illustrate I tend to be inspired by fantasy and the future. Urth Caffe grand opening is Sunday, November 16 from noon to 7pm, the new downtown cafe…. but, they are currently open (soft opening) and have been baking from here for their other locations for the past week. We actually got a tour today!!!! That is Shalom, one of the owners! He gave us a tour of the bakery, kitchen and coffee roaster. All of their food is local, organic and made fresh daily. Coffee and tea also local with exception to some of the teas from a small farm in Japan that they personally helped harvest! Amazing.
